Ederer, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of PaR Systems, Inc. This business provides customers with custom and specialty cranes, bridge cranes, crane equipment, and heavy material handling equipment drawing on a rich and unique history of accomplishments in the industries which that we serve.
Ederer Overview
Since its founding as Seattle's first milling shop in 1901, Ederer, LLC. has grown to become one of the world's premier manufacturers of cranes, bridge cranes, crane equipment, and other heavy material handling equipment.
Ederer is an international business, with cranes, bridge cranes, and crane equipment installed on every continent and manufacturing partners around the world. Ederer specializes in all types of crane equipment, including custom-designed cranes that are typically for applications requiring precision handling, extra safety, high capacity, high speed, long span, and/or long lift. Ederer is ISO 9001 certified and meets quality assurance criteria for nuclear and space flight programs. Ederer provides cranes for many industries including the following:

Ederer History
In 1901 Edward P. Ederer, who had come from the Midwest to operate a net and twine-manufacturing business, bought a milling machine to service his European-made net and twine making machinery. The milling machine, a Cincinnati No. 1 Universal, brought in so much outside work that Ederer finally converted his net and twine business into what is now Ederer, LLC.
Business quickly developed into the design and manufacture of heavy crane equipment including overhead bridge cranes with much of the equipment produced for the forest products industry, including specially designed and built plywood presses, lathe chargers, log turners, barkers, and cranes.
During and after World War II, Ederer moved more and more into producing bridge cranes for industrial uses. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the company began advertising regionally in the Pacific West.
After several years an analysis of sales showed that sales were increasing east of the Rockies, so the company "went national" in both advertising and as a result increased sales.
Through what Ederer calls "job-engineering" - the complete design, manufacturing, assembly, and in-house testing of cranes to meet customers' specific materials handling requirements - Ederer has become a major factor in its field, particularly in production of cranes for the power industry - both nationally and overseas.
In addition to cranes for hydro plants - Grand Coulee Third Power Plant, Dworshak Dam, John Day Dam, Hell's Canyon and Mossyrock - Ederer has designed and built cranes for TVA nuclear plants, Trojan Nuclear in Oregon, the Government of India Tarapur Project and others.
Recently Ederer made the news as delivering the only U.S. supplied port crane in recent history (Port of Umatilla).
The CLEM transporter crane built for the Fast Flux Test Facility of Westinghouse Hanford Company is the only such crane in existence.
Several significant processes and designs have come from crane equipment manufacturing, including seismic analysis and restraint systems, and construction lift capacities. These engineering advances have given the company its national and international reputation.
A. F. Ederer, the founder's son, succeeded E. P. Ederer and headed the company until his death in 1967. He was succeeded as president by his nephew, John C. Ederer. In 1973 the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Formac International, Inc. John C. Ederer retired in 1976 and Donald E. Miller became general manager. In 1984 Don Miller, then president, bought Ederer, Inc. which consisted of Ederer Cranes and Washington Cranes. In 1985 he acquired Star Iron and Steel Co. On December 31, 2002, Ederer, Inc., was acquired by PaR Systems, Inc. in Shoreview, MN and is now Ederer, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of PaR Systems, Inc.
Ederer Relocation Announcement - 6/02/06
Ederer, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of PaR Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the new location of our Seattle based Sales & Marketing, Engineering, and Aftermarket staff. Effective June 5th, 2006, Ederer will be relocating its Seattle offices from our location at 2925 1st Avenue South, Seattle, Washington, 98134 to our new offices at 3701 South Norfolk, Suite 301, Seattle, Washington, 98118.
Founded in 1901, Ederer has been in the same location since about 1910, so the move includes the significant work of preserving both our essential engineering records, and over 100 years of history gathered in our old facility. While our new offices are significantly more modern, visitors will notice the respect paid to the past 105 years, including a display of Mr. Ederer’s original milling machine from 1901, portraits of our past Presidents, and a small selection of tools and equipment.
The relocation of our Seattle offices follows the orderly move of Ederer’s manufacturing operations to facilities we share with our sister company Jered, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of PaR Systems, Inc., located in Brunswick, Georgia.
In order to ensure the transfer of critical know-how related to the fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of our high integrity crane business, Ederer is pleased to inform our customers and partners that a number of key individuals were relocated from Seattle to Brunswick.
Our Brunswick, GA facilities include over 180,000 sq. ft. of high bay fabrication, test, and assembly serviced by twin 45 ton Ederer bridge cranes and multiple 20 ton and smaller bridge and jib cranes and features robotic welding capabilities. The facility is qualified to ISO 9001-2000 and NQA-1, and is currently building an Ederer 5100 ton capacity custom gantry crane.
Jered, LLC specializes in design-build projects for the US Navy but has its own bridge crane experience ranging up to 250 ft span for the Kings Bay Submarine Base, plus Aerospace fabrication such as a 550-ton launch table for Cape Canaveral.
