Overview
Jered LLC is a Worldwide Leader in Manufacturing & Systems
Integration for Defense, Commercial and Industrial Engineering
Applications.
Located in Brunswick, Georgia, Jered LLC is an engineering, manufacturing and project management company that has served
both commercial and government markets since it was founded in 1946. Jered LLC is a U.S. corporation, privately
owned and designated small business for U.S. Government contracts. Jered continues the NETEC Product Line of commercial
deck machinery, specializing in anchor windlasses, capstans and mooring and towing winches.
Jered LLC started its walk in maritime construction nearly sixty years ago.
History
Jered was founded in 1946 in Detroit as an engineering design facility
serving commercial and government markets. As the Company developed, a
major portion of the projects undertaken were in the marine field,
particularly with the U.S. Navy.
In 1964, Jered purchased the marine deck machinery lines of the
American Engineering Company and the C.H. Wheeler Company. These
organizations had designed and manufactured steering gear, deck cranes
and deck machinery for the Navy for over 80 years. Jered acquired all
design data, tools and patterns, and most important, the services of
numerous key technical personnel. These professionals provided the
experience and knowledge necessary to complement and strengthen Jered's
overall position in the marine machinery field and led to Jered
becoming one of the leading designers and manufacturers of steering
gear systems for the Navy today.
Building on this experience during the 1970s, Jered became a major
source of naval machinery products including deck cranes, weapons and
cargo elevators, steering gear, anchor windlasses, deck edge aircraft
elevators and special material cargo handling systems. It was during
this period that the Jered deck edge aircraft elevator became the U.S.
Navy standard.
In January 1980, Jered was acquired by Vickers PLC, a diverse
engineering group, based in the UK. Jered remained under their
ownership until July, 1997 when it again became U.S. owned and a
designated "small business" under the guidelines of the U.S. Department
of Labor Small Business Administration.
Jered's current staffing of approximately 100 includes design
engineering, program management, production control, quality assurance
with Level II and III NDT technicians, material management, welding
engineers, certified welders, test engineers, technicians and field
service engineers. Jered's manufacturing facility operates under a
quality assurance system certified to ISO 9001. Jered's legacy includes
a long history of compliance to Mil-Q-9858A.
In 1992 Jered relocated its operations to Brunswick, Georgia, to a
185,000 sq. ft. facility on 110 acres of property adjacent to the
Georgia Ports Authority. The larger manufacturing base has enabled the
company to expand the diversity of its product range. Recent orders
include the U.S. Navy's ELCAS(M) portable causeway system, the
fabrication and erection of a Panamax container gantry crane - as a
sub-contractor - for the Jacksonville Port Authority, and two 130 tons
capacity special rubber tired gantry cranes and straddle carriers for
cargo container handling systems in port facilities.
In August of 2005, PaR Systems, Inc. announced the acquisition of the
operations of Jered Industries, Inc. by Jered LLC. Jered LLC will
continue to preserve its strong knowledge base and successful history
as a wholly owned subsidiary of PaR Systems, Inc.
