Overhead crane technology has been a part of PaR Systems expertise since
the beginning, over 40 years ago. A great number of our robotic arms including
the M3000, M6000, TR®4350 and TR®6350 are
typically crane deployed. We have developed many unique solutions to allow
remote maintenance and retrievability enabling our overhead crane systems
to operate in highly radioactive (up to 109 Rads) environments.
Single-failure proof designs have also been produced. In order to ensure
a functional crane for the long run, PaR Systems has developed several
unique cable management systems to ensure electrical signals are successfully
sent and received from the crane. PaR Systems has also developed our own
radiation hardened control multiplexing hardware to reduce the number
of conductors necessary to control the crane.
PaR Systems crane designs have been generally limited to 30 tons and under.
With the acquisition of Ederer as a wholly owned subsidiary, the capacity
to build cranes is virtually unlimited, as Ederer builds some of the largest
cranes in existence including a 5100 ton gantry.
In areas where the lifts are considered "critical" or "important to safety",
we produce single-failure proof designs. Ederer's expertise in the design
of single-failure proof hoisting systems is unmatched in the industry
having deployed the most systems. Ederer's X-SAM® (eXtra
Safety And Monitoring) single-failure proof hoisting system is the only
system of its kind and has been generically approved by the United States
Nuclear Regulatory Commission for single-failure proof hoisting systems
designed to meet the requirements of US NRC NUREG 0554 Single-Failure-Proof
Cranes for Nuclear Power Plants. Generic approval assures licensing success
when nuclear facilities are to be licensed by the US NRC.
The integration of Ederer into the PaR Systems family of companies allows
single source procurement of the entire material handling package. At
several hot cell facilities Ederer's high capacity X-SAM®
cask handling cranes operate above Ederer and PaR Systems supplied in
cell cranes. Below these cranes are crane deployed telerobotic "PaR Systems"
arms. In other applications the hot cell cranes have co-located Ederer
X-Sam® hoists, PaR Systems tubesets and robotic arms.
Look to PaR Systems to supply all of your critical lifts needs in hazardous environments.
