Installations & Site Modifications

Ederer relies on engineering standards, project management procedures, and our manufacturing standards, all controlled by our Quality Assurance program, to produce quality designs and products, and manage successful projects. Our Field Technicians and Engineers are experienced to make your installation or modification project go smoothly while staying on schedule and within budgets. A track record of successful installations demonstrate that capability and experience.

Electrical Upgrades

Our experience ranges from assembly and wiring of contractor controls to complete development of electronic stepless controls including PLC installations. Ederer electrical shop personnel are journeyed electricians, with a minimum of 4 years experience, and they are particularly skilled with industrial wiring practices, conduit installations on traveling machinery, conductor separation requirements, installation of traveling conductor systems, and other crane specific features. All installations adhere to the requirements of NFPA 70, as the minimum. Our experience with motor controls ranges from fractional horsepower drives to drives in excess of 1000 HP; our wiring experience ranges from shielded electronic instrumentation cables to 500 MCM power cable and larger. All Ederer controls are produced with an emphasis on reliability, ruggedness, and maintainability, in addition to high performance and quality. In general, Ederer can accomplish virtually any industrial electrical assembly and installation in-house. Also, with fully staffed electrical engineering, and field service departments dedicated to crane and heavy lift work, we work with our subcontractors to assure compliance, quality and immediate results.

Subcontractors

Subcontractors supplying Ederer-designed products or services are evaluated by management and purchasing personnel and selected based on the ability of the subcontractor to meet the requirements of the project, including all quality requirements. This evaluation is based on the subcontractor's performance on previous projects or on a review of their current capabilities, including ISO 9000 certification.

Work Management Program

A significant portion of Ederer's business is now devoted to custom modifications of high-value in-place lifting equipment. The requirements for these modifications usually involve special circumstances such as the handling of hazardous or otherwise delicate loads, often at higher capacities than the equipment was originally designed for, and nearly always with highly precise movements. All of these requirements need to be met within the constraints presented by the existing installation. Ederer's company organization has been adapted accordingly to handle this type of project. With this organization and a wide selection of experienced personnel, Ederer has the ability and experience to assign resources to meet the varying needs and schedules of nearly any challenging project.

Environmental

Ederer typically refers to the owner's environmental protection guidelines when working in the field; most of our customers have unique hazardous waste requirements and are chartered to themselves on how to handle their own hazardous waste. In our own shops Ederer is classified as being a "non-producer" of hazardous waste, as we have carefully consulted with local authorities and arranged our production and materials to avoid generation whenever possible.
