PAR Systems Breaks Ground for New Manufacturing Facility

October 1, 2012

Saint Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota (September 28, 2012) – PAR Systems, Inc., a world leader in material handling, automation, and robotics solutions since 1961, today announced it has started construction of a new manufacturing facility in Shoreview, Minnesota. A formal groundbreaking ceremony will take place in the morning with key individuals who were instrumental in expediting the plans for the new facility. Among those present are Sandy Martin, Mayor, City of Shoreview, Blake Huffman, President, Shoreview’s Economic Development Authority, Garry Mannor, President, Mission Construction, and Brad Yopp, Chief Financial Officer, and Brian Behm, President, Robotics, both from PAR Systems.

The current capacity demand of PAR Systems’ business requires additional space that is capable of handling the specialty equipment that PAR builds for its clients. The new construction will eliminate the need to continue to lease alternate manufacturing space. This facility represents the third building along County Road E on the PAR Systems campus.

“This new manufacturing space is necessary to support current projects and order as well as enable further growth of the business,” stated Brian Behm, President of PAR Robotics. “The new facility gives us the ability to almost double our Robotics’ manufacturing capacity and employment in Shoreview. Currently, PAR has 170 employees in Shoreview, and over 450 at all PAR Systems locations worldwide”, continued Brian.

The new building immediately adds over 43,200 ft² manufacturing space to the existing 70,000 ft² at 707 County Road E. A potential future expansion would add another 12,000 ft². The crane bays are 24,000 ft² with a crane capacity of 60 tons. The 65-foot high bay roof, and pit that is 36 feet below grade, will accommodate the large specialty equipment that is required to support the nuclear decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) activities throughout the world, such as Chernobyl and Fukushima.

PAR Systems has designed and built some of the most complex engineered systems that are operating today including the largest Super Gantry Crane in the world for construction of the Olmsted Dam on the Ohio River, and the automated drilling systems to manufacture the new F-35, Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.
