Remote Handling Systems

PAR System’s radiation hardened remote handling systems have helped national laboratory and decommissioning sites worldwide operate in nuclear environments.

PAR remote handling systems, composed of radiation-hardened manipulator arms, electromechanical telescoping masts, a custom Mobile Tool Platform (MTP),  and custom tooling options offer a complete customizable solution that is durable, effective, and versatile for remote handling operations in challenging environments.

Our remote handling systems are composed of modular components that can be combined to suit the needs of your hot cell application.

Our TensileTruss technology leverages a custom Mobile Tool Platform (MTP) to form a stable platform for remotely operated tools. Our telescoping masts offer unparalleled smoothness and motion control of manipulator and end of mast tooling deployment. And our radiation-hardened manipulator arms have evolved over 60 years to offer key performance features tailored to the nuclear industry.

Radiation Hardened Manipulator Arms

PAR’s innovative radiation hardened manipulator arms have offered cutting-edge performance in nuclear environments since the 1960s. Our modular design provides customizable features such as end effectors and tooling, deployment options, wireless controllers, and equipment operating control features. Their design offers significant resistance to radiation damage for a long working life in nuclear environments.

TensileTruss Technology

Our TensileTruss system is composed of two triangular platforms, upper and lower, connected by six wire ropes and positioned by six hoists. The hoists can sustain significant horizontal loads and torque generated by tools and raise and lower the platform as needed. The rigidity of the platform makes it an ideal delivery system for remote tooling required in long-term projects.

Telescoping Masts

PAR designs and implements electromechanical telescoping masts and deployment platforms for inspection systems, material handling, and remote operations. These vertical masts are distinguished by their consistent, smooth and controlled motion, and the masts’ cross section offers extreme torsional resistance.
