Celebrating PAR’s Apprentices during Apprenticeship Week
In celebration of Apprenticeship Week, we are highlighting some of our shining, hard-working apprentices at PAR Marine. Read more about their experiences below.
Hope Hutcheson
Q: Can you share something about yourself?
A: I recently graduated with honors from Coastal Pines Technical College. I had never welded before I went to college but I fell in love with it. I like that you get to be creative.
Q: What has been the most memorable part of your apprenticeship? Or the biggest learning moment?
A: Learning how to read blueprints and how to use them in the workplace.
Q: How long have you been an apprentice at PAR?
A: Since Sept. 14th, 2020.
Q: What do you like best about working for PAR?
A: PAR takes the time to invest in its employees and they care about us. We are not just another number to them.
Cameron Serrato
Q: Can you share something about yourself?
A: Before working at PAR I welded boiler tubes and did pipeline work. In my off time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and surfing.
Q: What has been the most memorable part of your apprenticeship? Or the biggest learning moment?
A: My biggest learning moment during the apprenticeship was learning the new Mil-Spec standard.
Q: How long have you been an apprentice at PAR?
A: I graduated from the apprenticeship program roughly 7 months ago.
Q: What do you like best about working for PAR?
A: I enjoy building unique products for the US Navy. I also appreciate the company itself. What PaR does for their employees and how the employees are treated is like nothing I have experienced with another company. The benefits are outstanding, the people are great and PaR is top-notch. Weld, weld, weld.
Eric Yarbrough
Q: What has been the most memorable part about of your apprenticeship? Or the biggest learning moment?
A: Learning how to tig weld. It’s the only welding type that I have not done.
Q: How long have you been an apprentice at PAR?
A: 8 weeks.
Q: What do you like best about working for PAR?
A: The opportunity to use different welding techniques.
Gerrick Phoenix Whisenant
Q: Can you share something about yourself?
A: I am a Viking reenactor. I travel over the U.S. to show the simple life of the North men.
Q: What has been the most memorable part of your apprenticeship? Or the biggest learning moment?
A: Blueprint reading, it’s a lot of information to take in, but it’s the easiest to grasp.
Q: How long have you been an apprentice at PAR?
A: 8 weeks.
Q: What do you like best about working for PAR?
A: The opportunity to climb.
Aaron Cannon
Q: Can you share something about yourself?
A: I like to build computers and edit videos.
Q: What has been the most memorable part of your apprenticeship? Or the biggest learning moment?
A: My first time welding.
Q: How long have you been an apprentice at PAR?
A: 8-9 weeks.
Q: What do you like best about working for PAR?
A: Learning something new every day.
Raymeriz Johnson
Q: Can you share something about yourself?
A: I am a hard worker, honest and trustworthy person. I went to Coastal Pines Technical College.
Q: What has been the most memorable part of your apprenticeship? Or the biggest learning moment?
A: My most memorable part about my apprenticeship was taking the first egg crate test.
Q: How long have you been an apprentice at PAR?
A: 1 year
Q: What do you like best about working for PAR?
A: Being able to improve my skills and working with my co-workers.
